Don’t change your contacts or adjust your glasses, you read that right. The song “You Oughta Know” by Alanis is all but confirmed to have been written in reference to her past relationship with Dave Coulier (the man who played Uncle Joey). Apparently, Dave was 15 years older than Alanis and wanted to start a family, but Alanis wasn’t reciprocating those feelings. As a result, the two broke up but apparently Dave got over it a little too quickly. Lyrics in the song say:
Did you forget about me Mr. Duplicity
I hate to bug you in the middle of dinner
It was a slap in the face how quickly I was replaced
Are you thinking of me when you fu*k her?
Dave himself said in an interview that he believes those words are in reference to him. The lyrics that are most intriguing and are perhaps the only time I’ve ever considered Joey being near Uncle Jessie’s level of coolness are:
An older version of me
Is she perverted like me
Would she go down on you in a theatre
Yeah. That’s right. Joey was doing inappropriate things in the movie theater with Alanis Morissette. Like I said, this has been all but admitted by Alanis. But, trust me, I did plenty of research and it’s like 98% confirmed. Crazy, right? Probably the most shocking realization since #22.
