#92 They Just Can’t Get Enough Of Us.

Well, it was only a matter of time. 90s kids and their TV shows are like the ex that you simply can’t get over. You think about calling and texting quite often until eventually, you can no longer resist and you try to rekindle the old flames. That’s essentially what is happening in the fall when Teen Nick airs a 2 hour block from midnight to 2am titled “The 90s Are All That”. The shows included are Rugrats, Kenan & Kel, The Amanda Show, Pete & Pete, All That and Clarissa Explains It All. Many of us already stay up until 2 in the morning as it is but now we’ll be doing so for a purpose! We’ll be reminded of the glorious days of ginger brothers, dancing tattoos, adventurous babies, orange soda and so much more in these two hour blocks. The fact that this is being done proves that the new stuff just ain’t cutting it and the networks are relying on the greatness that we grew up on. Word on the street is that the Facebook pages dedicated to the 90s with an abundance of followers are what triggered this change in programming. That means the millions and millions of 90s kids around the world should pat themselves on the back for knocking some sense into Nickelodeon’s brain! Hell, if we have enough pull to get a two hour block, maybe we should see if we can get an entire 90s network, huh?

What other shows would you like to see make a return?

  1. They got the right collection of shows. Only two things to make it better. One add Rocko’s Modern Life, Doug, Catdog, The Angry Beavers, and Ren and Stimpy to the rotation. Second, they should make it SNICK AGAIN!!! I would love it if they put them Saturday Night from 7-12. Nostalgic indeed.

  2. Hey Dude!, Salute Your Shorts, all the game shows (Double Dare, What Would You Do, GUTS, Wild and Crazy Kids, Legends of the Hidden Temple)

  3. I agree with Jenn! Hey Dude! And Salute Your Shorts pretty much made my childhood worthwhile.

  4. Nickelodeon costs extra in Canada, but I’m SO happy that they’re finally bringing back the 90s shows!

Maybe now some of my old favorites will get decent DVD releases!

  5. Salute Your Shorts and Doug! I wouldn’t even mind them throwing in GUTS and Double Dare – classic shows! 🙂

This is beyond awesome! Maybe if there’s enough viewers we’ll get our own channel, or these shows will replace what’s on the Nick at Nite channels….

  6. Doug!! If you have Netflix Instant too, they’ve posted a TON of the classic Nick cartoons…like Rugrats, Rocko’s Modern Life, Hey Arnold!…all that good stuff 😀

  7. We definitely need some Rocko and Hey Arnold.

    Anyone remember Roundhouse?

  8. Any idea on when this is gonna start? While I want to believe, do you have a link for credible information?

  9. Never mind, did some searching on the web and found a credible link. Any idea what day this is going to start airing?

  10. I hope those aren’t the only shows they’re gonna rerun because they’ve left out some pretty great ones, such as:
DOUG (Shit, this was one of the VERY FIRST Nicktoons! It’s a must!)
    Hey Arnold!
    Rocko’s Modern Life
    Ren and Stimpy
Rocket Power (even though that’s more late-90s)
    Salute Your Shorts

  11. rocko’s modern life and angry beavers would be awesome!!

  12. Roundhouse!!! OMG

  13. ALEX MAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Alan Strange!!!!!!!!1
Are You Afraid of the Dark.

  14. oh my gosh, are they really? Sweet! *squeaks in excitement and glee!*

They’re already bringing back some of the better shows, Clarissa especially, but ooooh, they should absolutely expand their lineup loads further. Seconding Alan Strange, Alex Mac, Are You Afraid of the Dark? (yes please!), Roundhouse (maybe now I’m not teeny, I’ll appreciate it), Doug, Hey Dude, Salute Your Shorts, and any and all of the classic game shows. I’ll add a vote for Space Cases in here – so much love! And heck, Kablam! deserves a mention here too, if mostly for Action League: Now.

I know Rocko’s Modern Life and Ren and Stimpy are pretty big favorites for a lot of people, but they’ve always bothered me for whatever reason. I think a lot of it has to do with the over the top way things were presented, the… just the whole tone of both shows. They really bothered me. Still do. *winces*

  15. Oh man, this is awesome! I can’t wait. I’d love for them to show Hey Arnold! and Are You Afraid of the Dark as well. Hey Arnold! is one of my all time favorites.

  16. Nice! I’d like to see Hey Arnold and Ren and Stimpy make a comeback.

  17. Wow, I can’t really begin to choose which were my favorites that are not being resurrected (yet). Of course Rocko’s Modern Life and Ren and Stimpy should make a showing, as well as Doug and Are You Afraid of the Dark because they’re just awesome. Angry Beavers is up there, so is The Secret World of Alex Mack (I had a bunch of those books, too!), Wild and Crazy Kids, Salute Your Shorts, KaBlam!, Welcome Freshmen… Wow, tv was in its prime when I was a kid!
I will also second Space Cases, and throw in Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, just because nobody else has yet and I must stir the pot.

  18. Ren and Stimpy and Rocko’s Modern Life grossed me out too much as a child and I don’t want to see them come back, but shows like Hey Dude, Salute Your Shorts (I still know the theme song) and The Secret World of Alex Mack would be AWESOME. Also maybe like Are You Afraid of the Dark and Doug, those would be great, too. Wild and Crazy Kids and LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE for game shows, definitely.

  19. I wish they would do a 90s kids network! They should play all the shows everyone has listed! I would also want stick stickly back in the afternoons and definitely SNICK! That would be my dream come true and would pay 4 it 2! BRING THEM ALL BACK NICKELODEON!

  20. ok so this wasn’t a Nick show, but WONDER YEARS!!! i still get excited when i hear the intro…”what..would you do….if i sang…out of tuuunnee…” bring it back.

  21. What about Caitlin’s Way? I really liked that show. Although, maybe it aired in the early 2000’s now that I think about it…

  22. They should change nick at night from the crappy sitcoms they have now like ‘The George Lopez Show’ and ‘The Nanny’ and make it RetroNick at Nite which shows all of the old Nickelodeon shows like Rugrats, Doug, Rocko’s Modern Life, and the like.

  23. Salute Your Shorts, Doug, Rocko’s Modern Life, Hey Arnold

  24. @Ouch That, or bring back shows from earlier itterations of Nick At Night. I’ll second the revival of The Wonder Years, Mary Tyler Moore (partly because I might appreciate it now I’m not a kid, partly because it was what came on right after Snick in the early ’90’s), and the original Get Smart.

Especially that last one, oh heck yes. Count it among the silly!spy/crime series I took deadly seriously as a teeny kid. Ahem.

  25. Hey, DOUG,Ren and Stimpy Salute Your Shorts, and all the game shows like Double Dare, What Would You Do, GUTS, Wild and Crazy Kids, Legends of the Hidden Temple!!!!! Those should def be put back in rotation!!!!!!!!

  26. A-aaa-aaangry Beavers!
Was I the only one who was upset you couldn’t sing with the theme cause there were no words?
    Aaaah! Real Monsters!

  27. It’s weird how this worked out. I found this site in March, then they announced this new 90’s line up, and about a week ago, I had satelitte installed in my home after four years of being in debt. It’s like my childhood just came running back to me all at once.

  28. ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK!!!!!!!!!!

  29. What they should do is make a channel that shows old school nickelodeon 24/7. I’m sorry but 2 hours is just not enough for me.

  30. lol! wow… i don’t have to watch all these shows to have a complete childhood flashback after being reminded of them all… but i’d definately watch a channel dedicated to 80’s and 90’s shows… YOU CAN’T DO THAT ON TELEVISION!

  31. Yeah, Nickelodeon should bring back SNICK – even if its just for one night. Have all the original SNICK shows on some Saturday night for nostalgia, that way they can educate these kids on what good TV is like.

They can stick Drake and Josh up their asses.

    • Amen to everything you had to say. Kids don’t know what having an awesome childhood is like..especially one that is solely about being a kid.

Doug[JUST BECAUSE IT WAS AWESOME AND PROVED KIDS CAN DO SOMETHING], The Angry Beavers(only saw it like five times and i want to try it out again), (GUTS, Legends of the Hidden Temple already have their own channel, nick gas so we don’t need to put em in rotation), also: Rugrats, Hey Arnold!( but not too much), Rocket Power, and how in the hell was INVADER ZIM not mentioned, plus we should add some of the old power rangers shows before they got played out and struggling for life. Lastly I definitely think their should be a completely new channel devoted to this

  33. This is great news, I would put on Hey Arnold (its all on Netflix too btw), Salute Your Shorts, My Brother and Me, Doug, and well…pretty much everything else lol.

  34. Doug for sure! And Rocket Power and Are You Afraid of the Dark?

  35. I’ve got to say as someone born in ’84, this is certainly a good thing, but The Amanda Show shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same breath as the other shows here.

  36. 2 hours just isn’t enough to cram all the awesomeness of the 90’s into! We need a whole channel dedicated to the 90’s!

  37. Fuckin’ Animorphs, man.

  38. The new stuff isn’t cutting it…

So we’re going to hide the 90s stuff away at the 2:00 AM slot.

I appreciate the intention, but I’m not following your logic.

  39. Salute your Shorts!!!!!! Also soooo pissed they got rid of Nick Gas, was a great channel

  40. SparkFlameFire

Double Dare, Guts. Legions of the hidden temple, Rocket Power, hey Arnold… and though it wasn’t a nick show they need to get their hands on Recess somehow

  41. I was born in 1997 but Clarissa Explains it all and Blossom are my two all time favorite shows! But they stopped showing CEIA on teen nick 😦 and blossom was originally NBC but I would still love it if they would put that back on! They only released the first 2 seasons of both on DVD 😦 I grew up with a lot of these shows and video games from the 90s, when I was 4 I would always watch the older kids I knew play Sonic the Hedgehog on our babysitter’s SEGA system (I was pretty damn good for a 4 yr old if I do say so myself :))

  42. To many to name.

  43. “The fact that this is being done proves that the new stuff just ain’t cutting it and the networks are relying on the greatness that we grew up on.”

I’m sorry, but I just find this statement completely laughable. The networks aren’t “relying on the greatness that we grew up on.” If they were, they would be showing this crap 24/7, but they’re not. They’re continuing to show their own stuff, which is good. All this proves is that that people are so obsessed with their childhoods that they want to do nothing but relive their childhoods instead of living in the here and now, living their lives and moving past their childhoods. Such a sad way to live.

  44. ROCKET POWER!!!!
